Esther & Matt

This weekend we attended Esther and Matt's wedding at Shakespeare Garden. It was a simple and spiritual ceremony, of which Tristan slept through half of. But we did spend time dressing him in his finest...a tuxedo bib that my Mom had made for Boo-Boo when he was a baby. And I must say, it is a sewing work of art.

Not only is it adorable, but so practical for when he barfed up his lunch.

What a cute photo of the girls and their babies! What's cuter is if you zoom in on the babies...

and notice Tristan's best Zoolander pose. Courtney's a lucky gal.

Happy First Father's Day!

This Sunday we celebrated Joe's first Father's Day. I tried hard to make it a special day, but the stars apparently weren't aligned properly to allow things to go as smoothly as I had hoped.

We started the morning with hole-in-the-toast and maple glazed bacon, with farm fresh eggs and fancy Whole Foods Black Forest Ham bacon. But the bacon never crisped up, so it was really like eating soggy bacon. Yum.

Then we decided to head to the North Beach Festival, but spent 20 minutes looking for parking to no avail. So we ended up walking around at Chrissy Field, which baby loved, so that was ok.

What did we get Joe? A fancy fillet knife from the Town Cutlery knife guy, and navy blue Jansport backpack, meant to replace his current ratty one that he's had since sophomore year in high school. The only souvenir left of his glory days.

But who needs a souvenir when you've got a little clone?!

My son's best qualities are those that he gets from his father: height, dashing good looks, a nicely shaped head, and remarkable intelligence. Oh, and they both can't live without me. That's kinda nice too.

On this Father's Day, I am so lucky to honor the best Daddy I could have ever married.

Random Happenings

In no particular chronological order...

We played with Katelyn and Courtney; Court has about 10 times more hair than Tristan...

Auntie Candace and T in her beautiful Cow Hollow apartment...

Enjoying a picnic lunch in the Marina Green with Auntie Jo, Auntie Candace and Maddie. Jo said I look like the unabomber (but a cute Lululemon version). And this is his "throw it up cause imma gangsta" photo...

We cooked for the Pio Rodas on a Saturday night. I love watching little Bianca run around our apartment. She's only a couple inches taller than Tristan, but worlds more mature...

Speaking of girls, here's his new friend Kylie (Auntie Jeanna's niece) who felt it was her "older sister" duty to tell him not to eat Mr. Moose. The calories aren't good for his girlish figure.

Mr. Stand Up

This morning, this happened.

And when I told Dr. Janet at our pediatrician appointment in the afternoon, she predicted that Tristan may skip crawling all together and go straight to walking. You would think Tiger Mom Lauren would think "ooooo, how advanced!" But really, I don't want him to skip crawling.

"No! But won't he be psychologically and developmentally missing out on something?!" I asked her. But she assured me he would not be deformed or have mental issues because of it. And really, when it comes down to it, we can't make him crawl. We put him on his tummy, but after 10 minutes or so, he either goes into hysterics or just rolls over. So, what's a parent supposed to do? I'll just put all my crawling hopes and dreams into child #2.

Lord of the Dance

When we first received this doorway bouncer, it looked like an accident waiting to happen. I mean, it hangs from the door frame for crying out loud. How stable is that? But Joe assured me if was safe, and that 34 years ago, he hung out for hours in one similar. Decades must have perfected the design, I began to hope, and so Tristan gets to play in it now, worry-free.

Disability Swimming

The Janet Pomeroy Center has served people with disabilities since 1952. It is also where Tristan is taking his first swim lessons! No, he doesn't have a disability, other then that big ol' head he got from Daddy. Just kidding, I love his head. And Joe's. But anyway, the Center has a 90 degree heated shallow pool which makes for perfect infant swim. And that is where you'll find us, every Wednesday at 11am. This time around, Maddie and Josephine joined in on the fun. I wouldn't say Tristan loves it. But he tolerates it; and doesn't complain. So that's a plus. And he's learned to dunk his head without freaking out, which is also a plus. Or rather, he's learned to not freak out when Mommy dunks his head.

Tristan and Maddie in the locker room. Pay no attention to the moobs* that my son has.

*man-boobs

He loves surfing on the whale board. Like he's some big kahuna.

Miracle on 11th Avenue

It took 6 months, almost exactly, for our little miracle to happen. Did Tristan say "Mama?" you ask. No. Did Tristan start crawling? No. Is Lauren pregnant again? Oh heck no! Then, what is it?

For the past three nights, Tristan has slept 9 hours in a row.

9 hours may not seem like alot to some parents, who have dream infants that sleep 14 hrs in a row. But for our little munchkin, this is a minor miracle. On the first couple of nights, I woke up at 2am, thinking he'd wake. But on the 3rd night, I slept soundly and uninterrupted from 11pm-6am. SEVEN HOURS!!!

Do you know I haven't slept that long since NOVEMBER 2010!?

And that, my friends, is our Miracle on 11th Avenue.

Ridic

Wanna hear something ridic? Here is a photo of Tristan's feet. How adorable they are, right?

They may be adorable at first glance, but that's because you've never smelled them.

What?? Baby's feet don't stink! Nothing on babies stink, right? WRONG! My baby's feet stink. Not bad, but when you get a wiff, it's the unmistakeable smell of stinky feet. Where oh where did he get that trait from? Gee, I wonder.
