Crib Naps

Yesterday, I decided that I would attempt to make Tristan sleep in his crib during daytime naps. After 3 minutes of protest-crying (I can finally tell the difference in his cries!), he fell sound asleep in his nursery. I had to check on him ten times to make sure I wasn't in a fantasy...it was liberating and exhilarating to have the living room all to myself, knowing he was sleep and secure in his crib. Now I have more time to do grownup things!

Mr. Mobile

Tristan's new friend is named Mr. Mobile; it was the best two hours I've spent on a craft project. Mr. Mobile keeps him fascinated for at least 10 minutes, precious time in the morning which I spend brushing my teeth and dressing. It started out a simple project in my head. I was shopping at Crate and Barrel during Christmas and saw these adorable ornaments. After a month, I finally got around to hanging them from a wooden circle embroidery frames wrapped in gray yarn. When Mr. Mobile wouldn't balance correctly, I was nearly about to give up, but figured it out in the end by securing another frame to the first one. Thank you Mr. Hubbard...I finally used a concept I learned in high school physics.

Zzzzz

Daddy and Son, exhausted. More Daddy than Son.

Momma's Boy

I know it's wrong, but a little part of me hopes he does become a momma's boy...

Profiles

It's crazy, but his profile really DOES look like the ultrasound taken at 5 months! When the ultrasound was taken, he was only the size of a peach. Now he's more like the size of a jumbo pumpkin, but still with the same profile. Pregnant moms, look hard at your ultrasound pictures. Apparently you can get a pretty spot-on idea of how they're going to look!

Baby's First Christmas Part III

Tristan made his final Christmas debut at the annual Family Friends Christmas Party on Dec 26th at Auntie Jane's house. I had a whole adorable outfit planned out, with a red chunky knit sweater from GAP with pendleton elbows. But one hour before the party, I put it on, and discovered my big boy wasn't so big and couldn't fit GAP size 0-3months after all. =( So we put him in a onesie and called it a day.

At the party, he met tons of aunties and uncles, and his GREAT aunties and uncles, too! Oh, and of course, he sat on Santa's lap. The highlight of the night was when Auntie Mel and Uncle Yas announced their new engagement! How exciting!

Baby's First Christmas Part II

Christmas Day, we took our first "road trip" to Fairfield to be with the Marshman Family. He loves his Auntie Katie, who insists on just being referred to as "Auntie", kind of like "Madonna" - one name says it all. After some of Uncle Dejon's famous gumbo, we headed back to SF for the Choi side dinner.

Baby's First Christmas Part 1

Christmas Eve marked our annual Dea Family Christmas dinner. Tristan made his appearance and met his great-grandmother for the first time (she's the one with the awesome hat on). She even held him...quite a feat for a 90-something year old lady!

Looking through a 5% opening

After putting him down at 11pm, he proceeded to wake up at 2am, 4:30am for feedings. I can handle that, barely. But at 5:45am, I heard the familiar stirrings and frustrated gruntings coming from the nursery. After waiting 5 minutes to see if by some miracle he would soothe himself back to sleep, I rolled out of bed, eyes 95% closed, and stumbled to see what the problem was. There, fully awake in his crib, was Tristan. His eyes wide open like it was the most exciting thing in the world to be up at the butt crack of dawn. Even through a 5% opening of my lids, I could see how adorable he was and melted a little inside. Then reality hit me when I realized, crap, I have to lull him back to sleep if I want to go back to sleep.

And that's where we are now, 1/2 hr later, and he is still fully awake.

Good morning.

Gung Gung

This is Gung Gung. He loves his grandson. I'm thankful that he's retired, which makes for relief in the middle of my Tristan-filled days. From bringing groceries over, to washing my windows, Gung Gung is part of the village that is raising baby.

P-I-M-P

Some of just a few pimpin' outfits...

Teddy bear pram from Auntie Kat.
Grey Jordans from Grandma Marshman.
"Have your people call my people" onesie from Auntie Judy.

A normal day

Everyday kind of blends together when you spend 24-7 taking care of a newborn. There's alot of him sleeping in my arms, which I don't mind until I need to pee. There's alot of rocking, shhh-ing, feeding, burping, changing, and spitting up. And then the next day begins and you don't even realize the last day had ended. The days are quick, nights are long and rather painful. In the beginning, he wouldn't sleep more than 1 hr at a time at night. At that faithful Week 6, he started to sleep 4 hrs, and I woke up feeling more refreshed than I had been since before he was born.

1st Photo Shoot

Our first photo shoot had some good ones (that we made announcements with), and some not-so-good-ones. Here are the...unique...ones.

The hospital stay was so quick, folks came by to our apartment afterward. Thanks for bringing food and fun to our little 2 bedroom in the Richmond! It helped break up the claustrophobia.

Whose child is this?

Those lips...

Early expressions

Thank you!

THANK YOU to all Tristan's aunties and uncles that came out to visit him in the hospital!
